Review of Меchmod Constanta by FIR

Review of Меchmod Constanta by FIR

Today I want to tell you about one of the very first samples of the new product that I got my hands on for testing. Meet Constanta by FIR.

Packaging and accessories of the Constanta mech mod

The Constanta mech mod comes in a tin tube decorated all over with the Planck-Dirac constant symbol (if I’m not mistaken), the name of the device and the signatures by FIR Vape Production and For Everyday Use. canadian vaporizer On the opposite side, in a small frame, there is the address and contact information of the manufacturer. There are no characteristics or even a color indication on the packaging.

Packaging

Constanta mech mod

Silver spacer

Originality card

User manual

The contents of the tube are not as rich as in the case of Metamorphose: inside there is only the mod itself, a certificate with a hand-signed serial number and a manual for the use and care of your purchase hidden inside the tube.

The appearance and design of the Constanta mech mod

Despite the obvious external changes, the new Constanta mech mod allows you to easily recognize the manufacturer: the grooves on the button body and under the connector, forming something like a radiator, remain in the same place. Only the replaceable drain, which made the device unique, has disappeared. But due to its rejection, the diameter of the mech mod has decreased from 25 mm to 24 mm, which is more common on the market. The body now has a convenient ergonomic shape, but unlike many competitors, it is not in the form of a noticeable groove, but in the form of a smooth and imperceptible narrowing to 23 mm in the central part. Well, one more innovation that is impossible not to notice – now you can buy not only “bare” brass, but also in a powder rough paint. At the time of publication of the review, only matte black was available, later the manufacturer promises to add others.

Connector of the Constanta by FIR mech modProtection of the Constanta by FIR mech mod

There is a deep tray around the connector that performs several tasks at once: protecting the battery from liquid ingress, from the atomizer sticking to the mod, and a small air gap to reduce heating. In general, a simple but useful design detail. The serial number of the mech mod is printed inside the tray, in my case – 0010. On the inside of the connector there is a rim that prevents the positive contact of the battery from touching the case without an installed atomizer, the simplest protection.

The connector platform has been reduced from 25 mm to the more common 24 mm. In my opinion, both of these diameters looked great on the Metamorphose, here the choice of drippers for the finished setup has become smaller.

The Constanta by FIR mech mod button

The button pusher is the only unpainted brass part, there are three holes for emergency gas release, and therefore, the battery should be installed with the plus to the button, i.e. down. The diameter of the visible part of the pusher is 18 mm, quite a comfortable area for pressing. The button is on the same level with the lid, no locking or height adjustment is provided. The spring is tight, but does not require significant effort.

The lid rotates easily, the threads do not cause any complaints, without burrs and sharp edges, and although immediately out of the box they were noticeably black. After cleaning, the dirt disappeared, but in some places there are traces of paint. In any case, this thread is not involved in the circuit and its cleanliness does not affect anything.

Constanta by FIR mechanical mod button

The button completely repeats the design of the previous mechanical mod from FIR: a pusher, a spring, an insulator and a spacer made of silver (not a spray, but an entire metal disk). Due to constant contact with the battery, traces of the circuit short circuit remain not on the battery case, but on the pusher rod and the inner side of the spacer.

Impressions and conclusions

The coating has not worn off or chipped anywhere in a couple of days, although its durability can only be shown by long-term use. The device lies very comfortably and pleasantly in the hand, due to the rough coating, the setup does not slip in the hand, the button is pressed softly and easily. The miniature dimensions of the pipe have not gone anywhere – Constanta is also a very compact mechanical mod. The advantages include constant contact with the battery, although for me this design of the button (not in the case, but held only by the lid) does not seem the most convenient.

Liked:

Quality of manufacture

Ergonomic shape and pleasant coating

Pleasant appearance

Constant contact

Very compact size

Disliked:

Button design
