Review of Pulse BF Box Mod by Vandy Vape

Review of Pulse BF Box Mod by Vandy Vape

One of the newfangled trends in the vaping market – squonks – the Chinese company Vandy Vape could not ignore and was one of the first to offer vapers its new box mod Pulse BF Box Mod. As in many other cases, it could not do without the participation of a famous person, this time the manufacturer brought in a well-known English-speaking reviewer – American Tony B, the host of his own channel Vapor Trail Channel. Tony is an active user of bottom feeders and has previously participated in the creation of drippers for squonks Pulse BF RDA, i.e. he is well versed in this topic. Let’s see what the American-Chinese tandem ultimately came up with.

Pulse BF Box Mod packaging

The box mod comes in a familiar blue box with the logos of the manufacturer and the device itself, the Pulse inscription is designed in the form of a heart pulse curve. The signature of the co-author of the squonk mod Tony B PRoject is also located here. canadian vaper On the back side, only the main characteristics, warnings and details of Vandy Vape are listed, detailed parameters of the device are not indicated. On the upper edge there is one sticker indicating the color of the device and the serial number, the second with a protective hologram and verification of the originality of your purchase.

Appearance and design of Pulse BF

The entire box mod is made of hard plastic, judging by the description on the manufacturer’s website, from nylon and high-temperature ABS. I can’t say what parts are made of what exactly, the manufacturer does not specify this information either. The case has a pleasant rough texture, all corners are rounded, almost every plane is decorated with various inscriptions and decorative elements, however, without highlighting in color, which is why they do not look flashy and fit quite well into the overall exterior. On both sides of the device, the covers are removable, in my case, red, on one there is the name of the device, on the second there is the autograph of YouTuber Tony B and the inscription Manufactured by Vandyvape.

Pulse BF mod colors Pulse BF panel colors

At the time of publication of the review, Vandy Vape released the Pulse BF in seven colors, in all cases the case (frame) of the device is black, only the covers differ: red, blue (cyan), gray, black, white, purple or blue. In addition to the complete ones, the manufacturer also offers to choose from and buy panels separately. In addition, the mod can now be purchased with new translucent panels and a black Pulse 24 drip tip with a drip tip matching the caps.

Pulse BF specifications from Vandy Vape

Materials: nylon and ABS (resistant to high temperatures)

Dimensions: 77mm * 27mm * 50mm

Connector: spring-loaded squonk pin

Atomizers: up to ∅25mm

Used batteries: 18650 (with adapter) and 20700

Capacity: 8ml

Fire button lock

Replaceable panels

Copper contacts

Wireless, direct connection of the battery to the connector for better conductivity

Magnetic cap fastening

The diameter of the connector pad covering the plastic case is only 20 mm, on the one hand, it will not be visible from under your atomizer, and on the other hand, the drip pads will rub the rough coating of the case and the appearance of circles around the connector is only a matter of time. The connector is recessed, the atomizers sit without levitation, the positive pin is steel and spring-loaded, the stroke is quite enough even for long connectors.

Both covers are held on by magnets, and their number is enough so that the panels do not play in the hand. At least, in my copy, everything holds perfectly. On the back side, under the cover, there are slots left to make it easier to remove the jar and battery, there is no ribbon inside.

Inside the battery compartment there is a polarity marking, by and large not needed here, since the device is a mechanical mod. The only difference between the contacts is that the “plus”, unlike the “minus”, is spring-loaded. The contacts are made of copper and require regular maintenance, as they were slightly oxidized right out of the box. The battery is inserted into the box with noticeable effort, and is removed much easier. The jars are very tight inside, do not dangle, and do not fall out on their own. In accordance with the market requirements for “Orthodox” mechanical devices, the Pulse BF has no wires or soldering, as well as a MOSFET, which is often used with a similar button.

Impressions and conclusions

Positive contact of the Pulse BF Box ModPulse BF Box Mod has been in use for several days, the device has proven itself to be excellent, no special problems have arisen in operation. There are, however, a few comments. The main complaint concerns the material from which the squonk is made. The plastic case does not take or remove heat from the dripper, which is why the atomizer heats up very much and cools down slowly, confidently turning into a red-hot piece of metal. The same applies to the durability and longevity of the device: the complete instructions clearly state that the warranty does not apply to the case damaged in the event of a fall or impact. There is also a question of how the rough coating will behave and how soon “bald spots” will appear on it over time, which is often the case with many Chinese devices.

Liked:

Simple, lightweight, convenient

Replaceable panels of different colors

Excellent quality of manufacture and assembly

Fire lock

Ability to use a 20700 battery

Atomizer landing platform ∅25 mm

Disliked:

The button heats up at very low resistances (0.06 Ohm)
