Review of Vapor Storm Trip Mod Box Mod
At the beginning of summer, the Chinese company Vapor Storm presented its new Trip Mod box, which, as the manufacturer assures, is ideal for traveling and is “the lightest metal mod with two batteries.”
Vapor Storm Trip Mod Packaging
The device, sold separately, i.e. not in a kit, without a complete tank, comes into your hands in a small, rather dull square box with an abstract print on the lid, the name of the device in the center and a color mark in the upper right corner. canadian vape shop montreal On the back side, the contents of the package, the characteristics of the mod, the manufacturer’s contact information, warnings and restrictions, as well as a sticker with a check of the originality of your purchase are listed in detail.

By and large, there is nothing under the lid except for the cable and the device itself, except for the standard waste paper in the form of a couple of cards with warnings and inspection by the quality control department of the plant that released the Trip Mod. The English-language manual contains almost all the useful information about the device and its operation, so if you do not understand or do not understand something, you can always resort to it.
Appearance and design of the Vapor Storm Trip Mod
I don’t know about others, but to me the box mod with its appearance and relief stripes on the side walls most of all resembles a suitcase, quite consistent with the name Trip (from English trip, travel), the only thing missing is a handle on the top and wheels on the bottom. In addition to the fact that the case is entirely machined on CNC machines, the manufacturer did not fail to mention that the aspect ratio of the case is maintained in the so-called golden section, i.e. it should please the eye of the owner and others with its harmonious proportions. The amazing thing does not end there: on the website of the Heaven Gifts store, which sent the device for review, this device is called “The smallest 200W high power Mod with two 18650 batteries in the vape world”, while on the website of the Vapor Storm company itself the wording sounds a little different: “The Lightest Metal Vape Mod In The World”. And indeed, even when you take the sealed box with the mod in your hands, it seems that something was not put in it, the packaging is so light. But if we have not been surprised by lightweight devices (plastic, of course, and quite fragile), then here we are talking about a metal case made of some kind of “aero metal”. Most likely, we are talking about aviation aluminum, avial – a durable alloy of aluminum, magnesium and silicon with small inclusions of other elements.
Colors of the Vapor Storm Trip Kit
I got a black version, there are no painted inscriptions on the case, only barely noticeable relief names of the TRIP mod and the VSTORM company. In addition to black, the company also produces steel (or gray), blue and red. If you want to buy a kit that includes a Trip Tank on replaceable evaporators with a mesh, you will find an atomizer in the same color as the box mod, and with a black device, the tank will also have a darkened flask.

The Trip Mod has a connector located exactly in the center of the case, all those who like this design will be satisfied, but I prefer mods with a landing shifted to the edge. The unpainted metal part, which is the platform, has a diameter of 20 mm, is attached to the case with three screws and has a relief pattern on the surface, reducing the adhesion of the atomizer to the mod. Together with the painted circle framing it, the connector already has a ∅24 mm and is best suited for use with atomizers of this diameter. The positive pin is spring-loaded and has a travel of about two millimeters, with screwed tanks and drippers there were no problems with contact, and almost all were screwed to the end without a gap.
Impressions
The device turned out to be not only light, but also convenient and quite nice, the laconic and strict design will appeal to many, especially those tired of inserts made of multi-colored Resin plastic. The same applies to the light weight, for a metal case a little more than 90 g – in fact, an amazing value, another thing is that with batteries and an atom the weight is already 200, but still. There are no questions about the mod’s appearance: the coating behaved quite adequately after a week of fairly careful use, it did not chip off anywhere, did not wear off, and in general, so far only pleases. The processing and fitting of the parts is at a fairly high level, I liked the cover with its powerful magnets and confident adhesion to the case. The buttons that rattle a little when shaken are not very annoying, but I would like to muffle the rather loud click, in silence it is too ringing. The board is a separate story, and here everything is not so joyful. There is a clear lack of a control button lock here, the only way to accidentally knock down the set values in your pocket or bag is to turn off the board, otherwise you can easily burn the coil – the protruding buttons are easy to accidentally press and simply knock down the settings. At the same time, it is strange that the combination of the Fire and “+” buttons is left free, and it would be quite possible to assign a lock here. As for the operation of the board, judging by purely personal feelings, the board overstates the output power, which is especially noticeable on high-resistance coils: on my usual 9-10 watts with a resistance of 1.4 Ohm, an unexpected burn appeared and the power had to be reduced to 6-7 watts. But with the Petri V2 RTA and a 0.09 Ohm coil, there are no problems, the device fries wonderfully even at 70 watts. However, like all similar devices, when steam locomotive or burning coils at high power, it often overheats and asks to give a break. The proposed Bypass mode looks a little strange (and what’s a little, frankly incomprehensible), in which the Trip Mod constantly produces 5 Volts, both with freshly charged batteries and with half-dead ones. The same applies to the impossibility of adjusting the power when manually installing the TCS, although with classic materials this very coefficient can be easily edited. In general, the firmware seems a little raw and requires minor edits. But at least it does not “please” with completely obvious jambs, and thanks for that.
Overall, I really liked the mod, small, light, and powerful; it will perfectly suit the role of a pocket dual-battery battery pack. And if you are looking for a metal, but not angular and heavy “brick”, but a fairly compact and light box mod, this device can be a good choice for you.
