Review of Adept Mod & Zlide Tank Kit by Innokin
How many functions do you use in your box mod? And how many does a beginner need? The Chinese company Innokin has created the simplest, but at the same time serious device in an IP67-protected case, which is perfect not only for a beginner vaper, but also for those who are tired of scrolling through Watts and Volts on the screen of their mod. Today’s review is dedicated to a cigarette kit consisting of an Adept Mod box and a Zlide Tank, created with the help of famous reviewers Phil Busardo and Vapingreek.
And how often have you encountered the need to explain to a person how many Watts he needs to set on the screen of an electronic mod? Of course, when it comes to some iJust or a simple Pod system, as a rule, such a problem does not arise, everything comes down to pressing a single button. canadian vape shop ottawa Sometimes there is not even one in the pod, all the work is taken over by an automatic puff sensor and electronic filling. But sometimes it is really lacking the ability to simply change the power even for those who have been using a vaping device for a short time. Well-known in the world of the vape industry Phil Busardo and his friend Dimitris Agrafiotis a couple of months ago joined forces with the well-known company Innokin and offered their view on the ideal kit for a beginner under the banner of Platform Series. But not in the format of a pod, as was the case with the Z-Biip Kit, but a full-fledged bundle of the Zlide Tank and the Adept Mod box. Moreover, with some interesting features, which we will take a look at.
Adept Mod Kit Packaging
Despite all the hardships that the box has endured in the hell of the post office, it is still clearly visible that Innokin knows how to present their products in style. On the front side there is an image of the kit (exactly the color that will be inside), a holographic sticker with the name of the proprietary PLEX3D evaporator technology with a link (not working) to the page with its description. On the left you can find the name of both devices inside (different configurations are possible) and a circle with a mark of the color of the kit, on the back side in a frame there is a huge list of contraindications and warnings, just below the list of contents, at the very bottom the manufacturer’s details and an originality check under the erasable strip (you can do it here).
On the right side there is a small loop of blue tape sticking out, by pulling on which you can remove the inner part. It opens like a book: in the left flap there is a small box with the Accessories inscription and add-ons, on the right under the INNOVATION INSIDE lid there is the kit itself with everything else.

All the rich contents that are hidden in the box are shown and listed above, separately we can note the thick meter-long micro USB cable for charging, replaceable drip tip, spare replaceable tip and glass. The user manual is translated into seven European languages, but traditionally for Innokin there is no Russian among them, but a small booklet with a warranty card and a guide to handling the device and liquids, entitled Warning + Safety, contains, among other things, the great and mighty. By the way, according to this instruction, “This product is not waterproof. This product should be kept dry at all times.” Curiously, there is not a word about IP67 compliance on the box either. The now traditional card with Phil and Dimitris’ autographs contains a welcome word on one side and a QR code with a link to the Zlide tank page on the other.
Adept Mod Kit Appearance
I got my hands on the black version (Black) of the Adept Kit, consisting of a mod and a tank. The bundle is a typical walkie-talkie, in appearance it is a completely familiar setup that can be assembled from any similar mod with a central connector and a tank with a cigarette draw. But since the main audience of the kit is beginners, both devices have their own features, which we will consider in detail below.
Colors of the Innokin Adept Zlide Kit
The manufacturer has as many as six color options for the Adept mod case (purple, “forest camouflage”, “ocean”, “sky”, white and black), but only four different Zlide tanks (“gun metal”, steel, blue and black). Innokin quite cleverly got out of this situation by selecting complete drip tips for steel tankomizers with a design similar to the mods. This kit is also available complete with a 24 mm Zenith Tank, and is therefore called the Adept Zenith Kit and for some reason is presented on the company’s website as the “French version”.
Appearance and design of Adept Mod
The Adept Mod box mod can be immediately praised for its rather laconic appearance and convenient shape: thanks to the embossed rubber “shirt” and rounded edges, the device fits into the hand like a glove, and at the same time does not slip out even from sweaty palms. The manufacturer promises protection according to the IP67 standard, I only conducted a test with immersion in water and now I’m just waiting to see if the device will fail or not. So far it works. In any case, dropping the device on the front panel, as well as the upper or lower part, is unlikely to end well for it. At least, the appearance will definitely suffer, and maybe something will crack.
The upper and lower platforms are metal, designed to look like a brushed surface, however, also with varnish, which is very quickly covered with scratches. On the case there are only two inscriptions in paint: Innokin on one side and Adept on the other. The device is declared by the manufacturer as an MTL Box Vaporizer, i.e. is intended exclusively for use with cigarette atomizers, which are included in the Adept Kits. Therefore, trying to make friends with the box with some sub-ohm drippers or tanks is practically useless. But I tried. By the way, after a quick search on the Internet, I did not find the mod for sale separately from the tank, apparently, it is possible to purchase the box only with a “load” in the form of the Zenith MTL Tank or the Zlide Tank discussed above.

Impressions
Water resistance of Innokin Adept ModI have already described everything about the Zlide Tank, to what has been written I can only add that it is a slightly redesigned, slightly cheaper, but still the same Zenith MTL Tank with some of its own features. I especially liked that the atomizer can be disassembled down to the last screw and normally washed from the liquid. The tightening is adjustable from very tight (with all the holes blocked) to semi-hookah, vertical winding allows you to vape both ways. The installed Z-Coil PLEX3D evaporator seemed too hot, the second one at 1.6 Ohm pleased me for about five refills, and then suddenly began to spit liquid (50/50 composition), completely ruined the impression, and I screwed my old Berserker MTL RTA onto the mod. There were no issues with either it or Kayfun [2019] lite (both with a resistance of approx. 1.4 – 1.5 Ohm), I used both at a power of one to three divisions. And here we should talk about Adept Mod. The device is nicely assembled, nothing rattles inside, nothing sticks out or comes off anywhere on the outside, it survived immersion in water without consequences (I hope they will not appear later), fits in the hand perfectly, the board does not fail (“What is there to fail?!”). Undoubtedly, such an implementation of control has every right to exist: you do not need to think about some numbers with resistance and adjust incomprehensible (for many) Watts or Volts to your winding. And by simply setting conditional divisions, it is much easier to control, you only choose more or less. That’s all. For many novice vapers looking for a set for a tight or semi-hookah draw on the first or second device, this will be more than enough. But for advanced users, such functionality will be frankly not enough.
subjective disadvantages include the impressive size with a built-in battery, the capacity of which also turned out to be significantly less than stated. Still, where did the other 500 mAh of the declared 3000 go? Although it feels like the battery lasts quite a long time. With such dimensions, the device could well have had a 21700-format bank inside (up to 4000 mAh and with normal current output), or two 18650 batteries, and if Innokin engineers had strained themselves a little, it would have been quite possible to make a normal battery compartment and replaceable battery. Look, Geekvape somehow manages to do this, while having a full-fledged board and the same protection (how real is a separate question). It’s easier to buy some Swag or Pico, set the values for the tank once and not drag a huge rubberized brick in your pocket. I have some doubts about compliance with the IP67 protection protocol. Although the device looks quite brutal, reminiscent of some rubberized case of the legendary nutcracker Siemens M65 or the newer Chinese teXet, the instantly scratchable upper and lower metal surfaces (most likely, it is painted and varnished brass or aluminum) do not inspire confidence. As well as the front plastic panel, which, although it looks thick and reliable, clearly has a limited margin of safety. However, maybe I am sinning in vain and the device will turn out to be more reliable than some Aegis and will easily find its fans among fishermen or extreme sports enthusiasts. Yes, both the tank and the mod have controversial points, but the name of a well-known manufacturer and ease of control can attract many potential buyers to the side of the “adept of evil”.
