Review of Druga Squonk Box Kit (Druga Squonker)

Quite recently, the Chinese company Augvape, famous for its dripper with an “almost unique” installation of coils, presented a squonk kit to the community — Druga Squonk Box Kit or Druga Squonker.

Augvape can hardly be called an innovator in the vaping market; all the company’s solutions often have very similar analogues. Including the popular Druga dripper, which our vapers seem to love more because of its name than because of the design of the stands, reminiscent of the American-Moldovan brainchild Skill RDA. However, this does not prevent the Chinese manufacturer from sometimes reacting quite sensitively to fashion trends, as eloquently evidenced by the appearance of a squonk with the same name — Druga Squonk Box Mod with a complete Druga RDA 22mm atomizer.

The entire set fits in the box, including the “new old” Druga RDA 22mm dripper. The entire manual is a piece of cardboard with a double-sided illustration demonstrating which side the nut on the connector should be turned towards the button for better contact.

Appearance and design of Druga RDA 22mm

The Druga RDA dripper is familiar to almost all fans of inexpensive but good Chinese devices, in our case the device is exactly the same, but with some changes. The skirt in my copy is made of stainless steel (I can’t say what the painted ones are made of), not anodized aluminum, i.e. the device will heat up noticeably more. And the diameter reduced from 24mm to 22mm will only contribute to this. On one side of the skirt there is a familiar logo of two Ds, the atomizer is crowned with a drip tip made of yellow Ultem with the name of the atomizer.

The drip tip with engraving is very small (∅16mm) and thin, practically does not cover the upper dome, it heats up a lot on its own and you can easily burn your lips on the steel body of the drip tip. In general, the same as the older “friend”. It is better to replace it with something more familiar “gun” with an external diameter of 18 mm at the first opportunity. The kit includes a delrin adapter for use with 510 drip tips that are going out of fashion, together with the airflow adjustment you can get almost a cigarette puff with the corresponding mouthpiece. On the bottom plane there is a deep engraving By Vapeshouse and Augvape, a couple of pictograms and the serial number of the atomizer.

The deck of the dripper has not undergone any changes, it is the same convenient system of two sawn screws with knurled caps and slots for a Phillips screwdriver that screw on top. The coils are conveniently installed by screwing the caps with your fingers and then pressing them with a screwdriver. The posts themselves are very thin, you should handle them carefully so as not to break them, and it is better not to completely unscrew the nuts unless necessary. The dripper’s bath is quite roomy, the airflow holes are located a millimeter above the side, you can even afford to overfill a little.

There is no wisdom in installing the coils, I took one small fused clapton on a 2.5 mm mandrel, and closed the place for the second coil with a complete plug. The only difficulty that may arise is inserting short coils, because the distance between the posts is quite large. The main condition when laying cotton wool is not to cover the ends of the wick with the squonk hole for supplying liquid, so as not to impede its flow into the atomizer bath.

The Druga Squonk box is very small and compact, made entirely of black plastic with a pleasant soft-touch coating, which is instantly covered with fingerprints. There is only one lid in our device – on the side where the window for the jar is located, on the same side is the logo of the box mod. On the opposite side from the button is the manufacturer’s logo, that’s all the decorations. The hole for the finger is small, but for me it was still quite convenient so as not to tear off the lid every time you press the bottle.

The connector of the box mod is made entirely of stainless steel, the platform for the ∅22 mm atomizer has no grooves or decorations, sometimes the “native” dripper firmly sticks to the battery block. The connector is adjustable (can be adjusted with the included Allen key), there is a very small reserve of the insulator stroke, but you should not press it too much. There are no markings or decorative elements on the bottom plane.

Impressions and conclusions
