Review of Geekvape ATHENA SQUONK KIT

Review of Geekvape ATHENA SQUONK KIT

In this review, I will tell you about a set of a squonk mod for an 18650 battery and a dripper with the same name from the GeekVape company – ATHENA SQUONK KIT.

The Chinese company Geek Vape, shortly produces a huge number of diverse and, most importantly, high-quality and popular devices. You can read reviews of many of them on the website at this link. And the ATHENA SQUONK KIT itself has probably become the first squonk that is not only pleasant to hold in your hands, but also devoid of most problems.

ATHENA SQUONK KIT packaging

I got the ATHENA SQUONK KIT from far from the first batch, a clear confirmation of this is the packaging. If earlier on the dust jacket you could examine the device in all details, now everything has become much “more modest”, and the eye is drawn to warning inscriptions, like on cigarette packs. canada online vape shop On the front side of the package there is nothing at all except these inscriptions and the logo with the name of the device. The back side is given over to information about the manufacturer and a hologram with authenticity control.

The sides are almost completely pristine, only on one of them there is a mark about the color of the device, which, however, is also not worth trusting too much

What’s in the box

After removing the lid, you can see the mod itself, carefully placed in foamed plastic and additionally protected by thin foam rubber on the other side.

Under the mod itself, you can find a set of spare and not so spare parts: a business card with an advertisement and possible color solutions for the device, a soft silicone bottle, instructions and a bag with all sorts of little things.

The set of small parts: two thin silicone O-rings, two thick black O-rings and three thinner black O-rings, a squonk pin (it’s even strange why it’s in the add-ons and not installed by default), an adapter from 810 to 510 drip tip, the plastic 510 drip tip itself, four spare screws with notches for a slotted screwdriver and a three-way key (2 mm slot, 2.5 slot and Phillips).

ATHENA SQUONK RDA. Design

We’ll start getting to know the kit from the top, i.e. from the drip tip. The ATHENA SQUONK RDA is made according to the scheme with an upper air intake, painted black and has no decorations except for the device logo on one side and two ATHENA inscriptions on the airflow adjustment ring.

Dimensions and features of the ATHENA SQUONK MOD

Outer diameter 24 mm

Height without drip tip 24.5 mm

Height with 810 drip tip 30.7 mm

Blowing Top, adjustable

Blowing hole size 8*2 mm

Possibility of installing a squonk pin Yes

Bath depth 5 mm

Holes for installing coils 3*3 mm

Racks Conditionally vertical

On the bottom side you can find the name, a couple of icons, serial number and information about the manufacturer.

On top of the drip there is an O-ring-less 810 drip tip, which has beveled inner edges and a visible height of 6 mm.

The lid, which is also the evaporation chamber, is painted entirely and, judging by the weight, is made of metal. There is no spherical processing from the inside, but there are protrusions (keys) under the airflow holes, which will allow you to accurately set these holes above the coils in the future.

Geekvape Athena squonk kit – RDA, regular and squonk pins

The squonk pin is gold-plated, just like the regular one, the difference between them is that the squonk uses Phillips (cross) slots, and the regular one uses regular (flat) ones. The regular pin consists of two parts, allowing you to adjust the amount of “protrusion” of the pin from the dripper.

The coils are fixed with four screws with slotted slots for a screwdriver. I have absolutely no complaints about the quality of the screws and their strength, it is well made and convenient.

Impressions

What I liked

Easiest installation of coils

Huge holes for the coils themselves

Excellent screws

Keys for directing the airflow to the coils

Ability to work in squonk mode (it would be strange if not)

Decent volume of the liquid tank

Quite tasty

What is simply good

You can install one coil

Airflow adjustment

Spare screws and o-rings

Adjustment of the positive pin (in non-squonk mode)

Adapter to 510 drip tip

Top airflow

What could have been better

Insufficient airflow for “powerful” windings

Weak o-rings on the deck

The airflow can be easily blocked by your lips during a puff

Low location of the squonk hole and, accordingly, the reverse flow of liquid

Total:

A pleasant and convenient flavor and non-flowing dripper, which at the same time can work with with quite serious windings
