Review of El Thunder by ViVA la Cloud

The guys from ViVA la Cloud suddenly burst into the media space with a successful project of the same name, dedicated to various vape devices, liquids, and now just news related to the entertainment industry. It was quite unexpected to learn about the appearance of a mechanical mod from them back when it was not yet mainstream. By now, three versions of the El Thunder mod have been released (and each of them was naturally refined and improved, a constant contact spacer and other small and not so additions appeared), there is a Lite version, an aluminum version, a version for 20700 batteries, and very soon there will be an RDA – MDLR.

Vila la Cloud – El Thunder – packaging

As a rule, packaging is designed to protect the product inside, here is a slightly opposite case. The tube made of thin veneer, although it looks chic, but the contents are frankly weakly protected and will most likely be damaged at the first “unpleasant” incident. buy vapes online canada However, it is worth admitting that such a presentation is very beautiful and at least attracts attention.

The front side is decorated with an inscription with the name of the mod – El Thunder and a small 18+ icon.

Inside, the mod is additionally wrapped in fairly thin foam plastic (not much protection, but still it is there).

From the additional materials in the kit, you can find a short instruction combined with a diagram of the device and an additional silver-plated spacer for drippers with a too long pin.

Vila la Cloud – El Thunder – Instructions

Instructions for the mod: El Thunder is a mechanical mod with an innovative button, with a 510 hybrid connector, made of brass, easy to clean, with constant contact and a bottom button. The warnings indicate that the mod should not be given to inexperienced vapers, do not use batteries with damaged insulation, install the battery with the positive contact to the ventilation hole in the button, do not use caustic substances to clean mods with paint and be sure to contact the seller or manufacturer in case of damage to the contact group. On the back of the insert there is a diagram of the device, quite accurate, but with minor technical flaws (threads are not marked) and without dimensions, but with the names of the components.

Vila la Cloud – El Thunder – appearance

El Thunder, like any traditional mechanical mod for one battery, is a pipe. A small depression approximately in the center of the mod does not change its essence, but allows you to achieve a recognizable contour, a comfortable grip and prevents slipping out of your hands even in winter gloves. Inside the recess is the name of the device and its serial number. If desired, you can also put a vape band here, which will cover this recess and decorate it a little and turn the mod into a smooth “pipe”. There can be a huge number of color options.

Vila la Cloud – El Thunder – 510 connector

I got the gray version, the coating on which is simply gorgeous! It is quite thick (the mod has added 0.3 mm in diameter), tenaciously rough and reliable (after three weeks of not the most careful daily wearing in a pocket with keys, the paint does not even think of giving up its positions).

Vila la Cloud – El Thunder – button

On the bottom side there is another chamfer, it slightly adds convenience to the grip when pressing the button. The button itself is simply brass and smooth (it just begs to put some kind of engraving on it, although a button with an engraving can be purchased separately). For safety reasons, the button is recessed into the case by about 0.5 mm and is equipped with a hole for gas outlet.

Vila la Cloud – El Thunder – disassembled view

The mod case itself looks extremely unusual: 12 tricky petals at first glance look incomprehensible and strange. Although, it turned out to be very easy to figure out how it all works:

Vila la Cloud – El Thunder – operation diagram

The button with its “body” enters these petals and creates a sliding and at the same time constant and self-cleaning contact, in which neither the spring (since one side of it rests against the plastic of the spacer), nor the cover, nor the threads (that is why I do not pay attention to the paint stains that got on the threads) take part. This can be easily verified by simply trying to press the button without screwing on the cover – and it works! The constant contact works according to the classic principle for mech mods: the spacer touches the battery contact, and the protrusion on the button, when squeezing the spring, closes the circuit to the spacer, not the battery.
