Review of El Thunder 20700

In this review, I will tell you about the mechanical mod for the 20700 battery — El Thunder 20700.

At the beginning of 2017, a new format of 20700/21700 batteries suddenly burst into the lives of vapers (as if the zoo of already existing 18340/18350/14500/16850/18500/18650/26650 was not enough). Leading and well-known manufacturers began to hesitantly announce boards and even mechanical mods. And at the end of 2017, the guys from ViVA la Cloud and El Thunder presented the first mechanical mod for this still rare battery. Structurally, it turned out to be very similar to the previous version, but with its own features, advantages and disadvantages.

Packaging and equipment

The manufacturer El Thunder remains true to its beginnings and continues to supply products in the packaging familiar to itself and its customers. It’s the same veneer tube with a leather tie, the El Thunder inscription on the side and a poorly visible seal with the model and color marking on the end. best vape kit canada The 18+ sign hasn’t gone anywhere either, although I don’t think it will scare anyone off or make them refuse to buy it at the very last moment, just imagine the mental dialogue of someone’s grandmother: “Oh no, it says 18+ right there, I can’t give this incomprehensible thing to my grandson for his 15th birthday, I’ll knit him a better cover for a husky scooter.”

Inside the mod itself, the happy buyer will later find instructions and three plastic spacers.

El Thunder 20700 mech mod – instructions

The warnings say that the mod should not be given to inexperienced vapers, do not use batteries with damaged insulation, install the battery with the positive contact to the ventilation hole in the button, do not use caustic substances to clean mods with paint and be sure to contact the seller or manufacturer in case of damage to the contact group.

El Thunder 20700 mech mod – appearance

The appearance of the El Thunder mech mod is again slightly different from the classic “pipe”. Due to the increased internal hole, the external groove has become less deep, but wider, and also acquired three protruding stripes. This design allows you to confidently hold the mod even in the sweatiest palms. Between the stripes are located both the name of the device and its serial number. There are not as many color options as we would like: black, pure brass, white and the most expensive “in camouflage”. Naturally, without paint will be the cheapest, and military, on the contrary, the most expensive.

The paintwork does not cause any complaints, dense, rough and very durable. A decent thickness (about 0.15 millimeters) inspires respect and hope that the mod will not change its appearance for a very, very long time. The upper edge of the mod has additionally acquired a groove around the hole of the hybrid connector, and the contact pad itself is made with chamfers along the outer edge (which just gives a platform for the ideal fit of 24 mm diameter evaporators.

A mod simply lying on the table (especially with a battery, but without an evaporator) maximally resembles a light dumbbell for fitness and can be used for these purposes.

In one movement and in a couple of seconds, the mod can be disassembled into three parts: a cover, a button with a spring and a spacer, and a pipe.

The button consists of three parts: the brass button itself with a gas outlet hole, a steel spring, and a plastic spacer with a silver-plated washer in the center. The button and spacer are held quite tenaciously on the spring and will not fall apart into components when disassembling the device. However, you should not lose your vigilance completely, this design is not fixed in any way inside the cover and can fall out of it after unscrewing (especially if a glass spacer is used for 18650 battery).

Summary and conclusions.

What I liked:

Hybrid connector

High-quality and tenacious paint

Quality of manufacture

Nice button without distortions in operation

Constant contact

Threads and spring are not involved in the circuit

The presence of an additional spacer for drippers with a long positive pin.

Support for 18650/20700

What is simply good:

There is a hole for gas outlet and a battery protection rim under the hybrid connector

Brief instructions with important warnings and a diagram

No button lock

Grooving around the 510 connector
