Review of  Atom Vapes NJORD RDA and SANDMAN MOD

In this review, I will tell you about prototypes of two devices, one of which will definitely be in demand and loved, and the second one is at least controversial – these are SANDMAN MOD and NJORD RDA from Atom Vapes. It is quite difficult to clearly determine the affiliation of ATOM VAPES to any country. Its main offices are located in the USA and the United Kingdom, and production has been moved to China. In addition, it is a subsidiary of the well-known and sometimes cult VGOD. What is the company famous for today? Perhaps, almost nothing, except for the APOCALYPSE RDTA TANK and VBOX DIY BOX, but it can loudly declare itself with a new bundle of the SANDMAN mech mod and the NJORD dripper, which will be discussed below. But before you start reading the review and giving out waves of skepticism and mistrust to what is written below, I want to warn you that these are prototypes (although they can be bought on the manufacturer’s website) and everything can still change, be modified or even redesigned.

Both devices are packed in a black cardboard box, without even an indication of what is inside, but with statements that the box is 100% made in the doctrine of organic design. buy e cigarette canada The largest inscription reminds that the contents are intended solely for review, and the text just above tells about the love of the Atom Vapes company for reviews of early prototypes and the love of the testing department for redesigns based on these reviews.

What’s in the box

Inside the box, in soft foam rubber and rustling bags, are the devices themselves, and besides them, a bag with spare parts and a giant instruction.

A sheet of A4 format folded in four introduces us to how to properly wind the coil, put it in the dripper and lay the cotton.

Use a 3-5 mm mandrel for winding. The mechanical mod requires low resistance. Logical, but how low, where is the line of reasonable? Write already “not lower than 0.05 and only when using high-quality batteries.”

The spare parts turned out to be almost standard: a flat screwdriver, several o-rings, two screws and a spring for the mechanical mod.

It was this spring that surprised and pleased. It is not the most standard type, made of flat and tricky tape and even seems to be gilded. Perhaps this is the most valuable part of the zip.

NJORD RDA. Design

I’ll start with the history of the NJORD RDA. A vape reviewer from Norway with a cool pigtail beard named Morten Oen contributed to the design and his knowledge of aerodynamics. I can’t say that the dripper has any special design, externally it is a classic cylinder with a smooth rounding at the top, all decorative elements are reduced to the NJORD inscription on the side. The paint is only matte black so far, but a steel device has also appeared on the designer’s channel.

Atomvapes NJORD RDA – drip tip

At the top of the evaporation chamber, on one o-ring, the 810 drip tip is held, its outer diameter of 17.3 mm perfectly matches the platform on the top cap, and if you want to put something of your own here, it should have the same or smaller diameter, otherwise you will have to put up with the drip tip overhanging the rounded edges.

The topcap connects to the base via two O-rings and a small “key”. The O-rings are well chosen, they were a bit tight when dry, but after the first filling they started working almost perfectly. The key performs two useful functions at once: it allows you to conveniently install and remove the evaporator from the battery block and is a guarantee of correctly set airflow.

SANDMAN MOD. Design

When I first got acquainted with the SANDMAN mod from Atom Vapes, I was overcome by a persistent feeling of deja vu. In fact, this is a mechanical mod VGOD PRO MECH 2, improved in terms of design and a couple of small moments. But in my opinion, SANDMAN looks much better than its more famous older brother, more convenient and certainly safer, although it is not without the main drawback of its predecessor. Like almost any mechanical mod, this “sandman” looks like a pipe, which is essentially what it is. There are only two distinctive design features: an artistic and unique plastic insert on the button and an ergonomic notch on the mod itself.

I am ready to forgive him for this main drawback and other minor quibbles just for this notch!
